Welcome to the 16 / 17 Season!

We hope you all enjoyed your first day of competition for the 2016 / 17 season! What a beautiful day Mother Nature put on for us on Saturday – I wish we could order weather like that every week!

Unfortunately, it was a hectic day at the Guild desk, so we apologise if we weren’t able to answer all of your questions. We hope most of you are now decked out in Guild uniforms and you all have your competition bibs. Please make sure your bibs are pinned on both the front and back of your uniform. For anyone interested in purchasing a Geelong Guild hoodie ($35 cash) we are taking pre-orders this weekend for another batch which should arrive in the next 3-4 weeks.

There is a lot of new, important information to pass on to our Members to make Competition day run as smoothly as possible this year, so please note:

  1. PRE-ENTERING EVENTS:

We encourage you to pre-register for your events via the AV webpage by Wednesday midnight each week.

Log into AV > Events > AV Shield Round 2 > Register for events. And remember to check out your “cart” when finished.

You can still register on the day but entry into events is not guaranteed.

Any problems, please contact AV directly on Ph 8646 4500

  1. INVITATION EVENTS:

The Geelong Centre runs a number of “Invitation” events each week which will not show up in the AV online registration process. Invitation events are “bonus” events the Geelong Centre offers due to athlete interest. To register for Invitation events you must sign into the Competition Office before the event to be eligible to compete. This week, please note the Hammer and High jump are Invitation events.

  1. RELAYS:

Every week the Geelong Centre offers a relay race at the end of the program. Athletics is often a very individual sport and we encourage you to organise a team to inspire Guild spirit! Relay teams need to be entered at the Competition office by 3pm on Saturday so please discuss this with your friends and be organised early. and we aim to enter a number of competitive teams.

  1. DUTY:

The club must provide weekly which is calculated as a percentage of our registered athletes at the centre. This correlates to . We will have a calendar available at the club desk this weekend – please note which 2 dates you would prefer or you will be allocated dates randomly. If athletes / parents / friends could be encouraged to complete the online Officials Course it will benefit our athletes by providing a better competition. http://athsvic.org.au/officials-levels. Please consider completing level 0 and 1. Athletics can’t run without you!

  1. COMMUNICATION:

The club communicates via a variety of ways. You will get emails (like this one), but we also heavily use:

* https://www.facebook.com/geelong.guild

* https://geelongguildathleticclub.teamapp.com/

* http://geelongguild.wixsite.com/geelongguild

Please make sure you stay connected so you know what is going on.

Also note Geelong Athletics has a new webpage http://www.geelongathletics.com where you can find information on upcoming events and championships.

Of course, if you have any further questions please feel free to call or email me directly.

See you at the track!
